In my opinion the 175cc Model 61 SL is the rarest of the Hodaka's. In original condition it competed with the 175 SL Honda in the dual sport bike market. Not many were made, few are found on the open market and they are highly sought after for competition in the < 200 Sportsman class.
Some of the pluses of the 175SL includes a frame that weights within a pound of the 95 Wombat, 34mm front suspension and it has a lot more engine than the 125's. And if that isn't enough the 250 engine will bolt into the 175 frame. In essence that's why they are darn hard to find.
This bike has been built from the ground up for ISDT competition. Some name dropping includes things such as; Sun rims, Combat Wombat chrome tank, powder coated Hodaka red frame, UFO fenders, Works Performance shocks, Race Tech Emulators, Renthal bars, in-frame air box, cylinder porting and reeds. Just a splendid example of a long distance light off road ISDT machine.
